RESTORATION - Psalm 51:12-15
"Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise." - Psalms 51:12-15 (NIV).
One of the focuses in planting Connections has been to reconnect people to God and to other believers. Many of those who have chosen to be a part of and help plant Connections Community Church have been individuals who, for one reason or another, have become detached from church (aka "de-churched"), as well as the body of Christ, i.e. other believers.
When we came up with the name, "CONNECTIONS" we instantly received this vision of people coming back to God, being restore, and experience revival within their lives and the lives of their family and community. We desire that Connections Community Church be a place where people can reconnect, start anew and grow closer to God than ever before.
Today, I received an email from Brad Thompson (Brad will be doing our praise and worship at Connections). I asked Brad if I could share his email... he agreed.
"Todd... Yesterday, I was reading Psalm 51 and was encouraged by it because of the transparent prayer that David was making. This is where we get our classic worship song by Rich Mullins “Create In Me A Clean Heart”. The verses that really spoke to me was verse 12, 13, 14, and 15. Verse 12 asks God to restore the joy of His salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit. As people come to the church, who haven’t been in church for a period of time, they need restoration and to be reminded of His salvation that He has given us. Verse 13 says, then once we have been restored then let us disciple and teach transgressors His ways that sinners will return to Him. In verse 14, David is asking to be delivered from blood-guiltiness that our tongues will sing aloud in worship of His righteousness. Then verse 15 is an affirming declaration in worship. I wanted to share that because we are going to experience people hungry for restoration and healing. So let’s pray that it doesn’t stop there, but we will see those people, who will be restore, will begin to teach and disciple and this cycle will bring revival to our community. Have a good day... Brad"
